An-Najah University’s Language Resource Center Organizes "Russian Language and Culture Day" in the Presence of the Russian Representative to the State of Palestine
The Language Resource Center for (LRC) at An-Najah National University organized a distinguished cultural event titled "Russian Language and Culture Day" on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the New Campus. The event witnessed official participation from the Representative Office of the Russian Federation to the State of Palestine and the Russian House in Bethlehem, alongside a number of academic and diplomatic figures and university students.
This cultural day comes as an embodiment of the LRC's efforts to promote civilizational exchange and openness to global cultures. Dr. Louh Sam'aneh, Director of the Center, highlighted that the event was "one of the most diverse activities, featuring various interactive corners including cultural performances in the Russian language, a taste of traditional Russian cuisine, folk games, and a photo booth inspired by the famous Russian 'Matryoshka' doll." She added that this provided students with an interactive opportunity to explore the features of Russian culture.
The event saw official participation from a high-level delegation from the Representative Office of the Russian Federation and the Russian House, headed by H.E. Mr. Gocha Buachidze, Representative of the Russian Federation to the State of Palestine. The delegation also included Mr. Igor Litvinov, Head of the Consular Section, Mr. Ion Arishin, Third Secretary, and Ms. Alia Zaripova, in addition to Mr. Vasily Frolov, Director of the Russian House in Bethlehem, and several of its staff.
The delegation commenced its visit with an official meeting at the Old Campus with the University President, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Zaid, his deputies, assistants, and an elite group of academic staff who are graduates of Russian universities. The meeting addressed ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation and activate bilateral agreements.
The visit continued with an introductory tour of the An-Najah National University Hospital, where the delegation was briefed on the University's most prominent achievements in medical education and healthcare. They were received by Dr. Iyad Maqbul, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, along with members of the Board of Directors.
For their part, the members of the delegation expressed their admiration for the organizational level and the rich cultural content of the event, emphasizing the importance of continuing such joint activities to strengthen academic and cultural relations between the two sides.
It is worth noting that the organization of this event aligns with the vision of the University’s Language Resource Center for (LRC), which aims to foster a multicultural learning environment and provide practical platforms to enhance language learning through direct cultural interaction.
