An-Najah University’s Language Resource Center Organizes Korean Cultural Day to Enhance Academic and Cultural Cooperation

The Language Resource Center (LRC) at An-Najah National University, in collaboration with the KOICA Alumni Association (KAAP) and funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Palestine, organized the Korean Cultural Day event. The event took place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the An-Najah Innovation Park, with the attendance of H.E. Mr. Yong-Kull Ju, Representative of the Republic of South Korea to the State of Palestine, and his accompanying delegation, along with a delegation from KOICA and its Alumni Association in Palestine.

The delegation began its visit to the Old Campus with an official meeting with Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Al-Khayyat welcomed H.E. Mr. Yong-Kull Ju, his advisor, Mr. Ji Hwan, and his assistant, Ms. Julie Hashweh. Discussions during the meeting focused on the strong and long-standing relations between the two countries, and between An-Najah National University and Korean institutions. They also explored ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides. Attending the meeting from the University were Dr. Nabil Massad, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Fadi Hasounah, Dean of the Graduate School, Ms. Lu'a Sam'aneh, Director of the LRC, Ms. Samar Abu Mughli from the Office of Partnerships and Global Initiatives, and Mr. Mohammad Siyam from the LRC.

Dr. Al-Khayyat emphasized the importance of strengthening academic and research partnerships with Korean universities in the fields of Dentistry, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Technology, highlighting the University's leading position in these specializations.

For his part, the Korean Representative praised An-Najah National University, acknowledging its scientific standing, diverse faculties, and large student body. He affirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting and enhancing academic and cultural cooperation between the University and its counterparts in South Korea. He also presented the University Library with one hundred books translated into Arabic covering Korean literature, as part of efforts to solidify the roots of cultural and intellectual exchange between the two sides. The delegation concluded its campus tour with a visit to the distinguished Korean-Palestinian Institute of Information Technology at the New Campus.

Ms. Sam'aneh, Director of the LRC, pointed out that this activity aligns with the University's vision and goals of promoting international cooperation and raising awareness of the importance of learning foreign languages as a bridge connecting cultures.

The activity included several interactive corners designed to introduce Korean culture and language, such as: linguistic information, a drawing and writing corner, Korean games, traditional cuisine, karaoke singing, and a virtual reality corner.
